Jamie’s practice is primarily devoted to criminal law and real estate matters. Prior to joining MHN Lawyers LLP Jamie articled with a large national law firm in downtown Toronto where he worked on complex court matters and large-scale corporate/commercial transactions. He joined the firm after his call to the Ontario Bar in 2003 and has been a partner since 2012. Jamie has extensive experience in criminal litigation matters as well as commercial and employment disputes. Jamie regularly appears in the Ontario Court of Justice and Superior Court of Justice. Jamie is widely respected by fellow lawyers and the judiciary, and is well-known as a savvy, hardworking and tactical litigator. He brings strong knowledge of the law and will confidently provide excellent representation to achieve the best results.
Jamie is a Standing Agent for the Attorney General of Canada and prosecutes federal offences – primarily drug offences – on behalf of the Public Prosecution Service of Canada. His successful prosecution experience includes a full range of matters such as large cocaine and fentanyl seizures as well as trafficking charges with corresponding manslaughter charges. In addition to federal prosecutions, Jamie provides defence representation for clients facing charges under the Criminal Code and other legislation. He has experience successfully dealing with a full range of criminal law matters including:

• Criminal driving offences including impaired driving, impaired driving causing death, driving while prohibited/disqualified, dangerous driving, and criminal fail to remain
• Violent offences including assault, domestic assault, uttering threats, assault causing bodily harm, aggravated assault and manslaughter
• Sexual assault and child pornography
• Property offences such as theft, possession of stolen property, break and enter, robbery and fraud
• Firearms charges
• Breach of court order (bail release, probation order, peace bond)
• Highway Traffic Act and driving charges including careless driving, stunt driving, driving while suspended, driving without insurance, as well as many other offences;
• Provincial offences under numerous regulatory statutes including offences related to conservation, hunting, environmental issues and occupational issues.

A large portion of Jamie’s practice deals with real estate law. He is very knowledgeable and experienced in purchases, sales and financing matters, and regularly acts for clients in relation to residential, commercial and agricultural transactions anywhere in the province of Ontario. Jamie regularly receives referrals from real estate professionals in Norfolk County and surrounding areas. Jamie and his experienced staff handle all real estate matters thoroughly and promptly.
Jamie is a senior active member of the Criminal Lawyers’ Association. He is also a director of the Simcoe and District Minor Hockey Association, member of the Simcoe Lions Club, Simcoe minor hockey coach, indoor soccer coach, outdoor soccer coach , and is active in the Simcoe community.
